I get asked a lot when I'm on the phone with a potential client, Do you charge to give me an estimate or Do you give free estimates . The answer is yes we always give free estimates within a given radius to our location . Beechnut tree does not charge for estimates nor do we charge for advice on tree care at your home . This is a very important service that most tree services will either not do or don't have the knowledge to give advice on tree care. At Beechnut tree care you will always have a Certified Arborist come out to look at your tree's . Not just some salesman or woman that is just there to sell you some tree work that is often the most expensive procedure there is which is a removal . Yes they will tell you that your tree is dying and needs to be removed immediately before it falls on your home. That's the game that they play. My old boss used to say " We are not Zip Zap tree service we don't get paid by the pound" Meaning that there are a lot of tree services out there and I have ran into them frequently that want to sell you the most expensive thing on the menu and that is almost always a removal of one of your tree's . Weather it is alive and thriving or it has some dead limbs in it . They will tell you that it is a Hazard and needs to be removed .This is what they do . I've seen this practice a lot . Because if they can sell you a removal then that's more money in their pockets . Doesn't matter if its healthy or not , doesn't matter if you can afford it. They don't care about the tree's health or your peace of mind or anything . They want that sale and they can come up with multiple reasons to remove it but not one reason to keep it . So watch out for these types of shady businesses.
Another tactic of some of these tree services is to give you an estimate verbally and not on paper. This is not good for anyone! If it is not in writing then it holds no value. Sometimes when I give an estimate and the customer says well your estimate is close to the other guys I will ask to see the other guys estimate just to make sure we are comparing apples to apples and they tell me that they don't have it in writing that its just what the fellow told them verbally. Ok well I guess I won't be able to beat their written estimate will I ? At Beechnut tree service we will always give you a written estimate free of charge or now we are starting to send a majority of our estimates via E-Mail to save on paper, plus you have it for as long as you need it. Another thing to inform our customers is that there is a time limit on each estimate usually 30 days . After the 30 days is up the estimates are null and void. This keeps people from contacting me many months later after the tree has grown out and is more work and more foliage to be removed then saying they are ready to have it trimmed or removed. I will in that case come back out for free and reevaluate the tree or tree's again.
As you know you will not get a free estimate from any other business especially if it is from a Certified Arborist. Not only will you get a free estimate but you will have a Certified Arborist looking at your tree's to help you plan a course of action that will help your tree's live a long and happy life. There is not another business that gives you so much and doesn't ask for a dime in return. Having said that it is not nice for a homeowner to abuse the system and try to get the cheapest price by having multiple people giving estimates . Remember you are going to get what you pay for. I've had people tell me well I've gotten 4 or 5 other estimates? Really? That's crazy . And that's abusing the system . Remember that the person is coming out to your home on their own time , using up gas and time to give you a free estimate. At least show them the courtesy you would want . I've actually had homeowners get mad at me because they didn't like the price I gave them. And some even get verbally abusive.
