It was June , 15 , 2018 when I got a call about 3:30 in the afternoon about a Cat stuck in a tree . It was on my answering machine . I called the person back and she stated that she had a Cat stuck up in her tree and that he had been up there all night and couldn't get down . She sounded pretty frantic and said that she had called several fire departments , A police department, Several of these Animal control type people , and various tree services in her area and that nobody would respond, She did say that one tree service said they would come out but were hours late and wouldn't answer their phone . So I told her that she did not have to worry that Beechnut Tree service would not let her down , and that I was leaving in a few minutes and would be at her home shortly. I had her text me her address and in five minutes I was out the door and on my way to rescue this poor creature.
I Proceeded to her home and as I drove up to the address I noticed two gentlemen with a long ladder I asked them if they needed any help thinking that these were the tree service that was late . But instead found out that this was the cats owner and his son . He was about to attempt to get the cat out of the tree with this long ladder that was obviously to short to reach the Cat. So I surveyed the situation spotting the Cat it looked to be in fear and then I was told that it had been up there for approximately 17 hrs. I asked them to remove the ladder and move there truck that was beneath the tree. After I got some equipment out of my truck I began to set my Climbing line in the tree above the Cat. I got my climbing line set and began to climb up the tree right underneath him. As I got closer to him I noticed that he wasn't stuck but was in a crotch of the tree .
He weighed approx. 20 lbs. looked tired and started meowing for me to help him once I got up beside him. I started to pet him and could tell right away that he was a well behaved feline. I pulled out a bag of Cat treats that I give to my Cats , they love them. Filled my hand with a few and he gobble them right down . As I kept petting him I gently put my hand underneath him and one on top and started pulling him off the limb into my lap. It was like pulling apart Velcro so I eased off and set him back on the limb.
I reset my position a little better so that I would have a better grip and would be closer to him . After I put him back he looked at me to say don't leave! The owner said to put him in a cage that he had but this was not going to work and he was to big for that cage any way . I kept petting him for about a minute , then I tried again and this time he let go of the limb and I tucked him in against me and proceeded to repel down my climbing line with one hand and holding the cat with the other. When I got close enough to the ground I handed him to the owner who had tears in his eyes. He was so grateful and I might have saved his life also , because he was going to climb that ladder to try and save his Cat and it might not have turned out to good.
